IHS online learning - Minimum standards notification

Year 10 Catch Up for Learning (Minimum Standards) - Information update

Dear Parents/Guardians

Year 10 students at Ingleburn High School are being supported to meet a minimum standard of literacy and numeracy to receive their HSC. Our current practice to ensure standards are met involves every student in Year 10 to be withdrawn from their Z elective over a 6-week period over the course of the year and best prepare students to achieve the minimum standard of literacy and numeracy.

NESA is continuing to work closely with the NSW Government to ensure a continuity of learning for students, along with ongoing safety and health of students, teachers and parents. At this stage, we are still awaiting advice on the updated practice of Minimum Standards from NESA.

To ensure the continuity of learning, students currently enrolled as a Catch Up for Learning student, will resume their normal Z- elective as of Term 2. To ensure that students are notified of the change, an email will be sent today on instructions which students will need to follow to ensure they are ready to complete online learning units of work in the event home learning proceeding into Term 2.

Students can also engage with their nominal Z-Line elective by going go to: https://ingleburn-h.schools.nsw.gov.au and then:

·         Click on: online communication

·         Click on: student intranet

·         Click on: IHS student intranet (which will open up a Google Site).

Here, you will find a range of resources, including a parent guide to Google Classroom, practical wellbeing resources for students as well as the off-site learning platforms for W10-11 of this term. Once you are there, click on ‘Term 1’ and you will see the Classroom codes used by your child’s teachers. Alternatively, you can use the link below which will take you directly to that site:

https://sites.google.com/education.nsw.gov.au/ihs-intranet-student/offsite-learning-platforms/term-1

It is expected that all students complete and submit course work (where applicable) whilst engaging in an online environment.

We are aware that some students may require additional support with course work. To accommodate, students are to ask for assistance via Google Classroom. Measures have been put in place where Learning and Support Teachers and Student Learning and Support Officers can provide on-line assistance where applicable. Furthermore, if your child requires physical copies of course material, please contact the school on 9605 1509 to organise this.

It is imperative that you provide the correct contact details (e.g. phone numbers) to the school so that we can communicate with you directly. If your number has changed recently, can you please contact the school on 9605 1509 to arrange an update of those details?

Lastly, you will find the latest advice from the Department of Education regarding COVID-19 on the school’s website and Facebook page.

Kind regards,

Robert Cheadle
