“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder what makes the universe exist. Be curious.”Stephen Hawkin

STEM education, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, encompasses a multifaceted approach to learning that integrates these disciplines to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation. At its core, STEM education aims to prepare students for the challenges of the future by equipping them with essential skills. Within this framework, emerging technologies such as 3D Printing, Drones, Rockets, and Robotics/Coding play pivotal roles - technology which is available and on offer at Ingleburn High School.

3D Printing allows students to conceptualize and create tangible objects, fostering creativity and design thinking. Drones provide hands-on experience in aerodynamics, navigation, and remote sensing, opening doors to fields like environmental monitoring and logistics. Rockets offer insight into aerospace engineering, physics, and propulsion systems, igniting curiosity about space exploration. Finally, Robotics and Coding empower students to understand algorithms, automation, and artificial intelligence, preparing them for careers in robotics engineering, software development, and beyond.

Through these technologies, STEM education cultivates a generation of adaptable learners equipped to tackle complex challenges in an ever-evolving job context of the 21st Century - where 75% of all growing professions requiring STEM related skills and learning.

Students also co-design alongside teaching staff, the Primary Schools STEM Challenge Day - where Year 5 or 6 school students from local primary schools compete in a day of STEM activities such as Bottle Rockets, Egg Drop and Bridge Build for prizes.
