The HSIE faculty at Ingleburn High School is a dynamic faculty with many unique and interesting disciplines to choose from, many of which overlap and intertwine.

As a faculty we aim to develop students who are:

Goals

Studying history helps us understand the origins of the modern world and helps uncover forgotten people, civilisations, and their paths. The study of history encompasses every aspect of human life in the past.
Through studying Geography our students investigate the past, measure the present, and predict the future.
As historians’ and geographers’ our students develop the valuable skill of being able to critically analyse and evaluate an array of evidence to real world problems and solutions.
All of the above feed into a range of our senior subjects on offer from the Social Sciences to the Humanities.

Activities

As part of both junior (7-10) and senior Geography students undertake mandatory fieldwork – some sites students have visited in the past include: Sydney Centennial Parklands, Vivid Sydney, Kosciusko National Park, Jenolan Caves, Barangaroo Sydney, Taronga Zoo, Sydney Aquarium.
As part of Year 10 History students visit the Sydney Jewish Museum as part of the Holocaust depth study.
As part of the Work Education course – students undertake mandatory work placement in a setting outside of school and also undertake work placement in the Kid’s Canteen.
Senior VET courses also include a mandatory work placement component.
